MANIE (DJ)
Steady rocking seems to be the main storyline to MANIE’s career. With over 15 years of experience in the big leagues and quite an impressive resumé, he’s still going strong.
MANIE is best known for his unique, hybrid blend of R&B, Hip Hop and Dance and his ability to come up with new and surprising combinations to entertain his audience. His sets (and productions) shift between energetic (Old School) R&B/Hip Hop, House with Latin and Caribbean influences and sexy R&B, Nu Soul and slowjams.
Although he’s capable of spinning and creating a lot of different music, his main poison is New Jack Swing and R&B. He is the co-founder and resident DJ of New Jack City and the yearlong success of New Jack City has made MANIE a regular DJ for other old school parties such as: Reminisce, Rootz, Reunion and The Soul Club.
MANIE is the go-to-guy to warm up the crowd at big R&B concerts for artists like Jaheim, 112, Joe, Ginuwine, Musiq Soulchild, Sean Paul, Blackstreet, Jagged Edge, Montell Jordan, Jodeci, Next, Avant, Mint Condition, Babyface and more. And his skills have been noticed beyond the borders too as he recently opened up for the legendary group GUY in Toronto (CA).
His passion for R&B also landed him a position at the rapidly growing start-up 22tracks.com, where he manages the R&B playlist. Currently, 22tracks gets over 20.000 unique visitors a day, resulting in 5 million song plays a month. (get the 22tracks iTunes app here)
MANIE’s skills go further than just DJ’ing. He is a respected producer with some hits under his belt including the #1hitsingle ‘Dansplaat’ for rapper Brainpower (certified gold status in The Netherlands and Belgium) and the title track for feature film ‘Shouf Shouf Habibi’. This past year, MANIE’s energetic house production ’Kiesz’ got signed to Laidback Luke’s Mix Mash Records.
MANIE is co-founder of the Classic Cutterz, a collective that consists of 6 DJ’s and 2 MC’s from The Netherlands who are specialized in all the ‘Oldschool’ genres. In 2010 they joined forces to become a super team with one common goal: to bring back that oldschool party vibe!
